These occur due to the forces of tidal. As we learned the moon affects
tide as it pulls it, Earth also pulls on the moon causing it deform. As expected from the name they originate hundreds of kilometer underground.
Yes the earth shrinks! This is due to the core of the moon cooling and this shrinking triggers moonquakes near the surface hence the name shallow moonquake
Due to the fact the moon doesn't have a atmosphere more debries heading to the moon hit's the surface and causing crater and may trigger moonquakes
In moon, day time last for 2 weeks and 2 weeks for a night before the switch. During the night the surfaces in the moon freezes and iduring the day it begins to thaw and this causes stress which trigger earthquakes
We believe to launch humans into a interstellar species we would require a base in the moon and several development in the moon. Any major construction in the moon without properly understanding moonquakes are bound for failure and thus to establish ourselves in space we need to understand their consequences, impact and to have the ability to predict them. This is why we believe more resources should be redirected to answer this question. Another reason why talking about moonquake is important is because it is easily relateble to Earth's events and is not too complicated for society to learn them. We believe by using moonquake as a bait, we could attract more people to learn and hopefully find their joy in learning about space and cosmos thus increasing the general populations involvement in Space Programs and activities.
