We are a team of international students who created this website that is intended to spark interest in our cosmos from our society. We want to share the beauty and the joy of the cosmos for those who want to learn it.
We want to create a safe enviorment where anyone can learn without prejudice. Everyone should have the right to enjoy such beauty.
Background: My home country, Japan is very familiar with earthquakes so my experience with them led me to the "Make a Moonquake Map" challenge.
Academic: Aerospace Engineering sophomore at Wichita State University. I'm in WSU's team for the 2023 NASA SUITS Challenge, I'm in the rocket club.
I am a Jr. vicepresident in Japanese Cultural Asossiation.
Team role: I worked on the background research of the moonquakes and their importance for humans.
Fun facts: Building Rockets. Operating Cessana 172. Studying Dynamics.
I hope you enjoy our website and get more interested into space!!
Background: When I was seven years old, I experienced a big earthquake in Japan and learned the importance of getting information about earthquakes. Therefore in this event, I decided to try the “Make a moonquake Map” challenge.
Academic: Aerospace Engineering freshman at Wichita State University. I’m in the rocket club.
Team role: I designed the 3D moonquake model.
Fun focus: Observing planes, rockets and stars. Playing tennis. Drawing pictures.
Background: I have been interested in exploring the moon as a scientist or an astronaut. When we build a base on the moon, we definitely need to know about the threat on the moon, and the moonquake is one of the biggest ones. I am from Japan, where there are many huge earthquakes, and I have encountered them. Based on those experiences, research on the moonquake is urgent for our future.
Academic: A junior studying Aerospace Engineering at Wichita State University. Researching honeycomb structure.
Team Role: I’m in charge of data analysis and organizing team progress.
Fun Fact: I am project coordinator in Wichita State Rocket Club. Also I am a music composer.
Background: I'm from Mexico, a highly seismeic country, where there have been 3 major earthquakes on the same day, September 19 of 1985 with 8.1 on the Richter scale, with 2017 with 7.1 and 2022 with 7.7. These earthquakes caused several consequences such as death, injuries, and material loss. Scientist have established that the probability of this happening is extremely low therefore it opens new lines of scientific research to give answers to an unpleasent coincidence. In fact my undergraduate college in Mexico city had to be torn down and rebuilt and the students were placed in temporary classrooms for 4 years. Therefore I think the challenge "Make a Moonquake Map" is of human concern.
Academic: currently studying masters in Industrial, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering at Wichita State University and working as a research assistant.
I'm in WSU's team for the 2023 NASA SUITS Challenge, I'm member of the rocket club, the American Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
I did bachelors in Industrial and System Engineering with a minor in aeronautics in the mexican university "Tecnológico de Monterrey".
Team role: I worked on data analytics and on the software ArcGIS.
Fun facts: I love my dogs, military kid,
I would love for this project to reach student in all levels and get more people in to STEM, specially girls as only 13% of Engineers in the US are women.
Background: I am from Malaysia and in the year I was born there was a massive earthquake in a neighbouring country causing a massive impact on ecosystem and economy and not forgetting the lost of life!!
Academic: Aerospace Engineering sophomore at Wichita State University. I'm in WSU Math Club
Team role: I helped in designing the website, processing data and help plotting in ArcGIS
Fun facts: Love debating and have a love~hate relationship with math
I hope you would take full advantage of all the tools provided and your also having a good time.
